Benalmadena Butterfly Park

Benalmadena Butterfly ParkCome and feel the experience of more than 1,500 butterflies from all over the world flying free around you in a tropical environment. The Butterfly Park Benalmádena is over 2,000 m2, the largest climate controlled space dedicated to butterflies, in Europe. The building was built in the butterfly thailand style which added difficulty to the inherent complexity of the project. To give the building authenticity, many building materials and decorative elements were brought directly from Thailand. The blue tiles covering the pagoda entrance hall were made in that color, expressly in Chiang Mai for the butterfly, and is the original tile that is traditionally used in the temples of Thailand.

The ButterflyPark family grows the last to arrive were six specimens of Asian squirrels, (Callosciurus prevostii).
Originating from Thailand and Borneo. The group is made up of two males, Albin and Brush, and four females, Lusi, Blaki, Murci, and Malena.

Following the philosophy of the park, plunging visitors in the natural habitat of our animals. The squirrels are not in cages or enclosures but free in the garden, like the rest of the inhabitants of the butterfly park (iguanas, turtles, birds and fish).

Their recent arrival means they are still a bit timid and are still adapting to their new home.

Before his release Albin and his friends had to go through the doctor’s office to perform various tests to check their health status.
We hope that these small friends are very happy with us and that you enjoy meeting them.
